Maps of the Spiritual Journey: A Seven Day Retreat with Francis Bennett
March 16 @ 6:00 pm - March 23 @ 5:00 pm
With parallels drawn between the 10 Ox- herding pictures of Zen and the Ascent of Mount Carmel in John of the Cross
Featuring Francis Bennett, author of “I Am That I Am”
Join us for this experience in “inter-faith” dialogue as Francis Bennett explores two classical maps of the spiritual journey – The Ascent to Mount Carmel by the renowned Christian mystic and spiritual master, John of the Cross, and the Ten Ox-herding pictures of the Zen Buddhist Tradition. We will reflect on the parallels and contrasts of these two maps of consciousness through listening to talks, taking part in guided meditation practices and reflection together on our own spiritual journeys.
Start and End Times:
Registration for this retreat will be from 4 p.m. on Friday 16th March with soup served at 6.15 p.m.
The retreat will begin at 7.15 p.m. with a short orientation talk and will end at approx. 5 p.m. on the final day.
Coming on Retreat
To find out more about coming on retreat please see here: http://www.sunyatacentre.org/coming-on-retreat-at-sunyata/
If you cannot stay for the entire retreat then please do not book, we expect retreatants to stay for the duration of the retreat.
There will be three vegetarian meals served daily.
Cost of Retreat
Like all retreats at Sunyata, this retreat is offered on a donation (dana) basis, both for the retreat centre and for the teacher.
At the end of the retreat there will be a chance to offer donations to the centre and the teacher (separately).
We are asked sometimes for guidance regarding donations towards the centre and we calculate that €45 per person per day meets the ‘break even’ cost for running all of our retreats throughout the year. If one wishes to give more than the guided amount, then that would be very welcome. All donations are anonymous.
