
Insight Meditation Retreat with Padraig Cotter and Heike Griffin [Online Event]

This will be similar to retreats held at Sunyata except online.
It is necessary to book at [email protected]
It will feature an emphasis on tranquility meditation (samadhi), insight meditation (vipassana) and lovingkindness(metta) meditation.
Beginning on the Friday evening and ending on the Saturday evening we will take this opportunity to practice using the online platform Zoom.
Booking is required and a link to the zoom meeting will be sent to you closer to the time.
To participate it is necessary to attend the entire retreat.
Retreat Schedule (subject to change).
Friday
8.15 pm Technical instructions from retreat managers. (Join earlier if you want help making Zoom work for you).
8.30 pm – 9.30 pm Introduction, short meditation sitting, discussion of how to use the retreat format, taking the refuges and precepts. Ending with a short meditation sitting.
Saturday
7 am – 8 am Puja and Meditation sitting, joining livestream from Sunyata meditation hall
Breakfast break
9.30- 12.30 am Meditation with instruction and reflection
Lunch Break
2.30 – 5.30 pm Meditation with instruction and reflection
7 – 8.00 pm Puja, meditation sitting from Sunyata meditation hall
8:15 – 9:15 pm Closing session, tea and interaction

Heike Griffin was born in Germany and has been on the board of Sunyata Buddhist Centre since 2014. She has been meditating and involved in group work for nearly 30 years; the last 10 years she has practised mainly in the Thai Forest tradition. Heike has been involved in facilitating retreats and day events at Sunyata for the past few years.

Padraig Cotter became interested in meditation and the spiritual path in 2001 and since then has practiced in various traditions, mostly in the S.N Goenka, Thai Forest and Insight Meditation traditions. He has been a volunteer at Sunyata since 2009, including a period as retreat centre manager in 2011/2012, and began leading workshops and retreats there in 2016.
